The Gadsden Police Department employs 100 efficient police officers who responded to over 53,000 calls in 2005. These officers are divided into specialty units, ie Bomb Squad, Narcotics Team, Tactical Unit and other effective groups.

The Parks & Recreation Department has a wide array of attractions. The Noccalula Falls camp ground & RV park with it's many facilities are favorites with vacationers. Also the Noccalula Falls park is an attraction for everyone.

They also have an elaborate sports complex, a riverside bait shop which sponsors several annual fishing tournaments, annual boat races and much more.

There are eight community centers in various locations about the city, some of which have gymnasiums, activity rooms and meeting rooms. The Elliot Community Center boasts an auditorium/theater which seats 325, several meeting rooms and houses the Gadsden Museum of Art.
