 | The City Of Gadsden, Alabama is located in the east central portion of Alabama and is some 45 miles west of the Georgia state line.
Although the area north of the city is mountainous, the city itself and southward are relatively level being part of the Coosa river basin. There is excellent farming lands surrounding it as well as on the broad plateaux of the mountains. Lookout, Chandler, Brindlee and Sand Mountains, are all renowned for their production of tomatoes, sweet potatoes, corn, sorghum cane and fresh garden vegetables.
Water activities and recreation are plentiful in this area. Bass fishing and boating activities are a prime attraction on the Coosa River with even more activities in the backwaters of the Weiss dam and lake some 18-20 miles northeast and the Neely-Henry dam and lake about the same distance southwest of the city.
