The Lord's church has gotten away from basic Bible doctrine. When was the last time you heard a "hell fire and brimstone" sermon? Many of our young people have never heard one. How often do we hear a solid sermon on first principals? Or one on the facts and differences of the old and new laws? The fact is, many of us older Christians are well acquainted with these subjects and we tend to forget that everyone has not been exposed to as much basic teaching as once prevailed. |
Faith and works should travel side by side, step answering to step, like the legs of men walking. First faith, and then works; and then faith again, and then works again -- until they can scarcely distinguish which is the one and which is the other. |

If It Is True That All Of A Christian's Life Constitutes "Worship" - Then:
There are other acts of worship to God other than prayer, singing spiritual songs, preaching, the Lord's Supper, and giving. These other acts include but are not limited to: sleeping, walking and jogging. |

Does your congregation have a web site? Can you add, update and delete
information from your existing web site easily? If you answered no to
either question visit The Lord's Way. This new service allows you to create a web
site for your congregation and update it yourself whenever you want by
simply completing online forms. The service is designed for any
congregation that wants a web site that contains current, updated and fresh
information but does not want to invest the time and money in learning about
the inner-workings of the Internet. Your new site will be packed with
information about your congregation. Visit us and take a tour! I would be interested in any preacher(s)'s libraries that are not in use. I promise to put any and all books to good use, either by myself, or other preachers or preaching students. Please don't let them sit in boxes out in the garage. I would gladly pay for postage, and if you require, I may be able to purchase them from you. Please call or email, Tim Smith at: (903) 935-7448; EMAIL.

...Senator Rick Santorum's recent comments about homosexuality mirror the Christian tradition of hating the sin while loving the sinner. A transcript of the interview shows the Pennsylvania Republican said, "I have no problem with homosexuality. I have a problem with homosexual acts." Santorum added, "I have no problem with someone who has other orientations. The question is, do you act upon those orientations?" Homosexual advocacy groups have denounced Santorum for saying that if the Supreme Court strikes down Texas's sodomy law, then laws banning consensual incest and polygamy might also be declared unconstitutional. In the interview, Santorum defended such laws because -- in his words -- "whether it's polygamy, whether it's adultery, where it's sodomy, all of those things are antithetical to a healthy, stable, traditional family." |

Talking about the old days and protracted meetings brings back a lot of memories. Back in the 1930's, very few people had cars and if you wanted the denominational world to hear the truths of God's word, you pretty much had to bring it to them. If no congregation of the Lord's church existed within the neighborhood, a brush arbor, or someother type facility was necessary.
ANNOUNCEMENT: Many of you are aware of the fact that I have just constructed a new directory of online churches in the U.S. I hope that you will all place the directory in your favorites folder and tell as many others as you can about it. I built it for the benefit of all and I surely hope that it is used. Also, please be sure to send me the URL to any website that you know of that I may have missed. I'll appreciate it. The word "baptism," "baptize," and "baptized" collectively appear in the Bible 91 times. Certainly, even if only mentioned once, we would understand it must be a topic of great importance. Unfortunately, the topic of baptism is one of the most misunderstood and misapplied that you’ll find in the Bible. Many would say the Bible is too difficult to understand on this topic. This is not true because "God is not the author of confusion but of peace..."(1 Cor 14:33 NKJV). Without adding any commentary, please consider what the following verses really say about baptism: |

A boss asked an employee if he believed in life after death. The employee replied, "Yes, I certainly do Sir." To which the boss said, "Well, that is good because after you left early to attend you grandmother's funeral yesterday, she came by here to see you!" Be sure, your sins will find you out. May God bless his faithful children, wherever they are. | ![]() |
A Goatherd had sought to bring back a stray goat to his flock. He whistled and sounded his horn in vain; the straggler paid no attention to the summons. At last the Goatherd threw a stone, and breaking its horn, begged the Goat not to tell his master. The Goat replied, "Why, you silly fellow, the horn will speak though I be silent." |
