RELIGIOUS DISINTEGRATION

History has shown us (although no one wants to look) that great nations have fallen throughout the ages as they become evil and lose all sense of morality. Aside from giving us His Son who then gave Himself that we might gain eternal life, perhaps the greatest gift God has given man is this great nation that we are now so fortunate to live in. But, as in times past, we have bungled it.

The Puritan Pilgrims set up their first colony here in 1620 I believe (or there about). Although the Lord's church had virtually disappeared from the earth, or at least from public view, biblical morality remained quite strong in many religious groups. And now, in less than 400 years, the Lord's church has been restored and is swiftly slipping back into obscurity along with religion in general and morality in general.

I know that I become very pessimistic at times and people will say, "Don't worry, the Lord's church will survive and his people will be victorious!" It bugs me when they tell me that. I know that the statement is true, but that has no reference whatsoever to the masses. It has only reference to the tiny minority who remain faithful unto death. And that minority is growing smaller and smaller and smaller.

When election time comes around, we will vote for ANYONE so long as he is a member of our party preference, or if he is handsome, or anything else we may like about him, but we will pay no attention whatsoever to how he stands on murdering unborn babies. Or if he is opposed to our freedom of religion, or if he thinks homosexuals should have preferential treatment, or if our borders ought to be wide open to illegal aliens, ignores states who refuse to enforce our immigration laws, and on and on. Morality has no influence upon our choice of politicians. Our courts are run amok, our lawmakers are turned into lawbreakers.

Faithful congregations of the Lord's people are disappearing daily into liberalism, modernism, unconcernedism, entertainmentism...anything but truth and accepting the authority of God. Brethren, we need to stop saying, everything is going to be alright! It is not alright now and it is getting worse! I pray daily that God will grant me the wisdom to know what to say and when and where to say it, to help stem this avalanche of apostasy. And I thank Him daily that he allowed me to be born in 1930. My tour is drawing to a close and perhaps I will not have to witness the things which are coming to this nation and the Lord's Kingdom.

New interest in U.S. withdrawal from United Nations

By Bill Fancher and Randall Murphree
July 3, 2003

(AgapePress) - Cliff Kincaid, spokesman for America's Survival, says the corruption within various agencies of the United Nations and the anti-American feeling that prevails in the organization are good reasons to terminate U.S. membership. He believes more people are seeing the United Nations in its true light.

"Clearly, the tide is turning," said Kincaid. "More and more people are realizing that the U.N. is on the side of America's enemies. At the very least, I would hope that we could start the process of withdrawing from certain U.N. agencies and de-funding them."

Efforts in the U.S. House of Representatives to begin the process of withdrawal from the international body have fallen short in the past, but there is renewed interest in such action.

Brethren, I believe that this man is 100% correct as to his assessment of the United Nations. I am not trying to turn this publication into a political one, but things of this nature, many of them, can have a profound effect upon the future of the Lord's kingdom. We need to become involved in those political matters wherein the freedom and growth of the church is endangered....Joel

THE TREASURER'S TREASURE (Acts 8:26-40)
by Wade L. Webster

On the way to Gaza, the Ethiopian eunuch, or the treasurer, as we will refer to him in this lesson, found a far greater treasure than any that he guarded for the queen of Ethiopia. He found the "pearl of great price" and hid it securely in his heart (Matthew 13: 46; Psalms 119: 11). Although the word "heart" only appears once within the context of the treasurer's conversion (Acts 8: 37), it is at the center of all that transpired within the inspired text. His good heart was the reason why he was reading the inspired record of Isaiah as he bumped along the dusty road from Jerusalem to Gaza, the reason why he asked Philip to come up and talk with him, and the reason why he asked to be baptized as soon as he saw a body of water sufficient for that purpose. I believe that you will agree that this man's heart is worthy studying.

IMPEACH THE SUPREME COURT-Joseph Farah/WorldNetDaily.com

There's a rising chorus of anger across the land in response to three U.S. Supreme Court decisions within a week that strip the people of their power, eviscerate the rule of law and illegitimately empower nine unaccountable high priests in black robes. In the first case, in a 5-4 ruling, the justices found the 14th Amendment's equal-protection clause really doesn't mean what it says. They found there is a compelling state interest to discriminate on the basis of race to promote a more diverse society. The next blockbuster ruling was the 6-3 vote determining, for all intents and purposes, that the Constitution contains a hidden right to practice homosexual sex. The third ruling that demonstrates the hyper-activism of the Supreme Court majority was a much-less-noticed 5-4 decision to overturn a California law and free hundreds of confessed and convicted child molesters in California.

MUSINGS OF JOEL

It would be well if everyone would give a run at publishing a brotherhood ezine for a few months..seriously. Without much tongue-in-cheek, I can tell you that it teaches you patience. It forces you to do more studying, which should not have to be forced upon us. In the past couple of years, I have become much more serious minded, I think. I'm not sure if that is the fault of the ezine, or of my age.

I learned very quickly, that not all brethren are tolerant and long suffering. Some are not even courteous. I had barely begun the ezine when I received an email to cancel a subscription from one lady whose tone sounded as if she was probably in tears and screaming. She was quick to inform me that God had not given us a pattern of worship! I really felt bad about it. If she wanted to upset me, she was exactly on the mark. I was thankful for email. If that exchange had been face to face or by phone, I don't know if I could have handled it or not.

Things like that cause my already high regard for brethren like Garland Elkins, to grow much higher. I envy, and admire, his exceptional ability to remain cool and collected under stressful conditions.

But, thanks be to God, all is not sour. I have also met a number of extraodinary brothers and sisters, whose kind demeanor comes through as strongly on email as does those who are angry and harsh. So, I've learned to pray earnestly that our differences will be resolved and all of us will become patient and kind like Garland Elkins. Wouldn't that be great?

One final commercial: If you have any interest whatsoever in throwing off the shackles of cable TV and going to a dish, click through on that dish banner above and check this company out. They will give you the best deal I have heard of anywhere. And they are all over.

SPECIAL NOTICE!! THIS SHOULD HELP MAKE YOUR DAY!!

The Federal Trade Commission has created a National No Call Registry and has issued a warning to all telemarketers that they will be held accountable for calling anyone who registers for their phone number to be on the list, or face stiff penalties. That is one of the greatest moves they have ever made, I believe. Of course if you are lonely and just love to get those calls, don't register with them. It is free to register though and I have already done so. Just click on that link back there register, snickering all the time.

BUT, all is not as great as it first appears. Exempt from this ruling are all political candidates running for public office, AND, all bona fide charities. They really ought to have eliminated those also. A man's phone in the privacy of his home should be his to do as he wishes with, as the courts have ruled for perverts commiting sodomy and for a woman's body rights which enables her to kill children. That is a rather good thought...I wonder what the Supreme Court would say if I received a vote solicitation from some ultra-liberal candidate, and I ran out and hired a surgeon to perform a post-birth "painless" suction procedure to extract his tiny brain? Makes as much sense to me as a woman killing her own baby, at will.

Also, the companies in the telemarketing business are irate and threatening to bombard the general public with "junk" mail advertisements as well as pop-up ads all over the internet. Those are rather expensive alternatives for them. And at least, they won't get you up from the Supper table when you have guests, etc. Also, I have two good suggestions for the paper ads they may mail out. (1) save the paper roll them tightly in to logs and tie with wire, then use them for heat this winter. (2) Any that come with return envelopes which state they will be postage paid by the recipient, stick two or three good tracts in them and post them back to them.

PARTING SHOTS FROM JOEL
Nadine & Joel Hendon
"If you believe what you like in the gospel, and reject what you don't like, it is not the gospel you believe, but yourself." --St. Augustine
-------------------------
"God cannot work in the lives of the self-righteous, for they have made themselves god of their own self-centered world."

The Ass and The Mule

A Muleteer set forth on a journey, driving before him an Ass and a Mule, both well laden. The Ass, as long as he traveled along the plain, carried his load with ease, but when he began to ascend the steep path of the mountain, felt his load to be more than he could bear. He entreated his companion to relieve him of a small portion, that he might carry home the rest; but the Mule paid no attention to the request. The Ass shortly afterwards fell down dead under his burden. Not knowing what else to do in so wild a region, the Muleteer placed upon the Mule the load carried by the Ass in addition to his own, and at the top of all placed the hide of the Ass, after he had skinned him. The Mule, groaning beneath his heavy burden, said to himself: "I am treated according to my deserts. If I had only been willing to assist the Ass a little in his need, I should not now be bearing, together with his burden, himself as well." ...Aesop
