PIEDMONT'S CIVIC CENTER was originally the YMCA constructed as a benefit for families of Standard Coosa Thatcher Yarn Mills. It offered a safe and well supervised place of recreation and entertainment for the young people of their community. When the yarn mill closed, the building was given to the city. It remains an excellent spot for activities of both young an old. The building contains an upstairs area with space for large gatherings including cooking and dining facilities. It also has a ground floor basketball equipped auditorium with stage for plays and other entertainment. A circular balcony has been converted to a 1/16th mile walking track. It may be one of the most beneficial assets the city has ever possessed. It is now one of the divisions of the city's Parks and Recreation Department.

FAGAN'S PARK, on the town's eastside, is a one-half city block formerly owned by the Standard Coosa Thatcher Yarn Mills and used as a playground for many years with a softball diamond. This too, sold with the mill property after it's closing. The building and the property were purchased by the now mayor of Piedmont, Charles Fagan who has leased it to the city. It offers a 1/4th mile paved walking track, two covered pavilions, a children's plaground and a basketball court. It is used by many for family picnics and other gatherings, including city sponsored events. An annual restored Antigue Car Show attracts large crowds.

MEMORIAL PARK, located on the westside of Piedmont on Memorial Drive is another part of the Parks and Recreation Department. This park also has a paved walking path that is slightly more than 1/4 mile in length. Additionally, it has a small pond with live ducks, and a children's playground. It is also the location of the Veteran's Memorial, commemorating the brave men from the Piedmont area who gave their lives for our freedom. The park as well as the drive, are also named in honor of those young men.
