PIEDMONT'S GUIDE TO

Retail Stores, Insurance, Dining, Schools, Banks, Churches, Realtors and more.

Piedmont history reveals that the community was called Cross Plains until the latter part of the nineteenth century when the residents voted for incorporation and the name was officially changed to Piedmont by the Alabama Legislature in 1888.

Piedmont is located in an area regarded by many as the most beautiful setting in Alabama. Nestled in the northeast corner of Calhoun County among the dwindling foothills of the Appalachian mountains. The area mountains appear neither foreboding nor ominous, but are large enough to be majestically beautiful.

This Day in History

Piedmont's eastside, for the most part, was constructed in the very early years of the twentieth century by the Standard-Coosa-Thatcher Company to house their employees, in conjunction with the establishment of a large yarn mill by that name. This created a delightful park-like setting with tree-lined streets and walks.
